Billy Solano is a seasoned technology executive, cybersecurity expert, and author with over 28 years of experience driving business transformation through innovative IT strategies. As the CEO of CMIT Solutions of Los Angeles, Irvine, Mexico & South Africa, he leads a multinational team that provides comprehensive cybersecurity and managed technology services to small and medium-sized businesses across multiple continents.
Billy began his career in 1997 with JDEdwards, where his exceptional sales acumen propelled him to Vice President and General Manager within four years. He was instrumental in securing landmark clients such as Grupo Modelo, Coca-Cola, and Telcel, cementing his reputation as a strategic business leader. His success attracted Accenture, where he spent a decade as a Partner, leading outsourcing and business development initiatives throughout Latin America. In 2013, he founded Opera Consulting, a global SAP business partner, further establishing his credentials as a visionary in enterprise technology solutions.
In 2018, Billy acquired CMIT Solutions of Los Angeles, expanding its footprint to Irvine, Mexico, and South Africa. Under his leadership, the organization has grown rapidly, earning recognition from the Calabasas City Council and winning the Managed Services Excellence Award from Barracuda Inc. His approach blends robust cybersecurity frameworks with business strategy, helping clients achieve resilience, compliance, and sustainable growth.
Beyond his executive role, Billy is the author of two business books. In his first book, Cybersecurity Backbone: What Every Business Owner Needs to Know, he takes the mystery out of cybersecurity for business leaders and gives them practical ways to keep their companies safe. Maximizing Business Potential with AI, his second book, is about how small and medium-sized businesses can use AI to come up with new ideas, grow, and get ahead of the competition. Protection and growth plans to help businesses grow faster and avoid AI problems.
Billy is also the creator of “The Highly Effective Executive,” a methodology taught in Mexico, Brazil, and the U.S. that empowers leaders to harness technology strategically to boost performance. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Universidad Anáhuac México and a Master of Science from National University, with advanced studies in Business Performance Management, CRM, Strategic Planning, and Leadership.
An avid golfer, Ferrari enthusiast, and wine connoisseur, Billy enjoys an active lifestyle and resides in Calabasas, California, with his wife, Laura, and their two children, Dali and Billy Jr. His journey from corporate boardrooms in Latin America to leading a cybersecurity-driven enterprise in the U.S. reflects his adaptability, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
